Engine ID number... was created by TattooMark
can anyone tell me how do decode this engine code? I just found out I have a 1982 kz650h frame with this engine code... KZ750ZZ093188.
I know that it is a 750cc, of course , but I need to know the year and stuff so I can start getting parts for it...
Thanks

Let me suggest this first...double check the motor VIN...the 6th and 7th places should read EE, not ZZ. The other issue is that Kawasaki produced this motor series (the KZ750 engine series) for a number of years from the early 1980's on (perhaps as late as 1988 for some Euro models) and this engine series was used in a number of different models. The model differences are not reflected in the motor VIN so one cannot tell which motor went into what model. The records are spotty on old 750's (and are not covered on www.zedder.com which covers many of the bikes seen on this site), but based on the motor VIN on my bike (which is a 1982), your motor VIN might be a 1983 year model. That said, you still don't know which model the motor was originally in...and there were differences between each of these motors in each model (cams, carbs, jetting, exterior finish, etc). In 1983, Kawasaki imported three 750 models into North America...the KZ750H4, KZ750L3, and ZX750A1 (yes, the early ZX series ran KZ750 motors). At this point you need to look at pictures of the above bikes to see which motor visually matches your motor...find a match, and read about the idiosyncracies of your motor.
