Set screw on right side was created by cricketfire46
In true TX style I will do my best to describe this part, but will get a pic up tomorrow. On the right hand side of the motor, on the shaft where there is a #12 head and a #17 bolt head there is a set screw. Somehow in attempting to reset cam timing after pulling cams off I managed to booger up the little allen head set screw that was on the outside of the #17 bolt head. Can anyone tell me what size this little screw is so I can attempt to remove it without using an EZ-out, and replace it.

Not sure exactly where your describing, but if it's part #220 in the diagram below, one of the three screws that hold the ignition pick up plate, they are a size 5x12 mm.

if I looked at the diagram right, I believe the set screw is on the outside of part 21148. It is a small allen head screw that I flattened out, It kept the 17mm nut with the split on it from free spinning

It sounds like someone's done some "creative engineering" possibly. Normally the #21148 has tabs that keep the nut # 92022 from spinning, then bolt # 92001 holds the unit to the crankshaft. So when you turn the engine over use the 17mm, it turns the advancer by the tabs engaged in it. I've never seen an allen setup.

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

Can you send a picture of this set screw? I'm curious too as to what the previous owner(s) did.
