U could change ur gearing to a 14 on front and maybe a 35 or bigger on back? This would help alot, but cost u top speed? Just a thought

good thought. Gearing is a great idea, however I already changed it and I'm happy with how it is now.

Might I suggest air filters. If you are running around without them, you are killing the valve seats and turning it into a leaker which will result in exactly the opposite effect you are trying to achieve.

actually I was thinking about buying some velocity stacks from you guys! Ha! Bring on the dirt!

It's not my daily rider. It only sees the road a few times a year so I ain't worried.

gear that pig to the moon you will still be able to do well over 120 mph (but not much more) if i want to ride like a twat and show off at the local stop light derby i use a 14 tooth countershaft sprocket and a 41 tooth rear wheelies like a monster kills every thing stop light to stoplight and does monster burnouts same gearing i use on my little drag bike.

Dang! Don't you have to shift constantly with such short gearing? My L hand is getting tired just thinking about it! :)

here's a twist- Nitrous! I have all the parts (I think) bought used from a guy selling kz drag parts. Paid $60 for 2 bottles, injectors, pumps, hoses, everything. Not really sure if I'm gonna use it, but the price was right. I've never tried setting up nitrous before so that's going to require some studying if I do it. Anyone?

I hate to say it, but forged pistons will be almost necessary if you will be spraying nitrous into her. Also, by that point a welded crank will also be a high priority. It is probably possible to get away with a very small shot, but i wouldnt risk it. Split that baby open and make it bulletproof. I had my crank welded for a mere $180, and that included shipping that heavy bastard to and back form maine. Gardner Racing Concepts did my crank, very nice job. I would look into some 1075 pistons if you want to take advantage of that nitrous system. Watch ebay, often times they go pretty cheap. Then you can crank up the funny gas and hold on!!!!!

Not ALMOST but ABSOLUTELY.....

If you spray it with cast pistons, you will blow the ring lands right off the pistons. Velocity stacks will shorten the life of the engine considerably.

Get Cam Motion Z1 grind cams.

if it was me and wanted some fun with a daily driver gearing is by far the best bang for the buck. new sprockets and a longer chain will run you a hundred and a half forged pistons cams valve train componets ignition welded crank heavy duty clutch basket carbs pipe the list goes on and on attach own dollar value to these componets see where i'm going with this.

This guy seems to know a lot about nitrous. He claims a stock motor can handle a small shot easily. Checkout his GS1100

www.nitrous.info/motorcycle-nitrous-injection-system.htm

I already have the stuff, just need to fill the tanks and figure out how to install it all.

Yes gearing is great, and I have a lot of experience with changing gearing so I know what you mean, but I really don't want the motor spinning any faster on the highway than it is now.

as a side note,i can tell you more than one 03-04 marauder owner was looking for a shortblock after spraying a 4.6 dohc with stock cast pistons....now back to our thread topic..B)
