Hmm.. Perhaps someone can comment..

I have an Z750 (engine num kZ750e..) not sure of the exact model..still trying to track it.

When I give it in first it makes a horrifying noise, sometimes even in second - this is only under hard accelaration - I've been told it is the most probrably the primary chain.

Then again that it might be selector / gears.

Not sure if anyone can comment, and or the best way to check what it might be?

Don't want to split her if it aint really neccacary as all the rest have been replaced by previous owner.. but not the primary chain
Kawasaki Z750 - 1981 ... I think... trying to trace vin number...

It could also be your Cam Chain, or something as simple as your Drive Chain needing tightening, and is rubbing on the center stand. In any case, Primary Chain has a stretch limit, mentioned in the shop manual. The slack can be measured, but you have to remove the exhaust system, and open the oil pan. I believe, and correct me if am wrong, but the 750 max slack is about 20 mm.

As mentioned above, the HyVo chains are extremally durable and strong, and don't break. If streched beyond limit, then other parts like rings, bearings, cams, have also reached their limits. If previous owner changed all that, he probably should have gone for a new primary chain as well, while he was at it.

Are you sure the noise isn't coming from the clutch? Please describe the noise. Ed
