head gasket leak

On this '76 900cc motor I have a head gasket leak at the #4 exhaust area. The motor set for several years. I am assuming that leak can only be repaired by replacing the gasket. My dim hope is that maybe it can be cured by resetting the torque on the head bolts. What says you?

Thanks

oil is starting from the area immediately under the #4 exhaust port and then being blown around the right side of the block. Valve cover is not leaking, and cam plug on that side isn't leaking.

Any ideas?

lemo32, No smoke and plug isn't oil fouled.

Wireman, that's my temptation, I've got to check the valve clearances anyway, so while the cam cover is off....

thanks

sounds like your in for fun. pulling a head isnt that bad. if you need a head gasket let me know i happen to have a kz 900 two piece with oring i would let go cheap
or call wiseco, went from a two piece two a one piece
for about 42.00. with a high milage motor you need to check compression it may be time for a total rebuild.
