New Rings

Hi,I got a new set of rings to install. One of the rings have what seems to be a lip on the edge. Can some one tell me how to install the rings, where and what side is up. One ring has the little lip around the edge. The first slot or second one

Hi If your rings are KL brand, it seems that the top ring usually has a bevel to it wherin the widest part of the bevel goes to the bottom of the groove. Middle rings typically have a cutout which goes to the top and you may find the letter "N" stamped on the top face. It might pay to check the website of the manufacturer or the people you bought them from. Hope this helps! David

I got the rings from Z1. They are npr rings. One ring is is light in color and the other is a black ring with the bevel on it.

I would call Jeff at Z1 and ask him personally, a wealth of info with this man!

On my stock rings, only the middle ring has the beveled edge and the edge with the cut goes downward.

There have been changes made to even stock rings as my original rings on my '74 had a one piece oil ring and the stock rings I picked up to replace them with had the aftermarket type oil ring made up of the wavy-type pieces. I kinda wish they still had the one-piece type.
