Z1-B Exhaust Options??? was created by marcuch
I'm at the point that I need exhaust on my 75 Z1B. It started out as a concourse restoration, but too much of the chrome was trashed so most of the chrome is now powder coated black. Chrome plating is way too expensive in Calif!!!

I'm looking for any advice that would help me decide between the Vance and Hines, Kerker 4 int 1 or the OEM Exhaust? I'm actually leaning towards the OEM exhaust but it just kills me to sink another $1,500 + hardware on the exhaust. I'm already between $6k and $7K on this resto and doubt I'll ever get my $$$ out of it.

If you'd like to see the bike pictures can be found at sites.google.com/site/jvcycles/Z1-Restoration Any advice on resale, what parts need to be removed for the 4into1 exhaust (like center stand), quality, etc would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

ZeCross exhaust system from Z1 Enterprises is another option.

I don't know whether it accommodates the center stand.

There's also X-Pipes which are touted as power-enhancing, but never any dyno slips produced. Can't recall about oil filter access or center stand retention.

Good Luck! :)

OEM exhaust probably won't look good on a blacked out bike, a black 4/1 would be better, methinks. I'd spend the extra scratch to get the Kerker instead of the VH. VH used to be good, but nowadays they have a bad rep.

You can retain the centerstand, you just need to fab some sort of bracket or tab to keep the centerstand from hitting your chain when the stand is in the stow position.

You can only be young once, but you can be immature forever!

If you were doing a true restoration, I'd go with the Doremi OEM...but since you have opted for a mild custom...go Kerker...Kerker and Kawasaki is a marriage.

Thanks Guys... I think you're right. Kerker it is. I'll update the site when completed! Now I just need to decide Black or Chrome. Decisions decisions...
