Laid the bike down yesterday, samwiched the handle bars and buggered up the flywheel cover on the left side. I also cracked the front fairing.

Im ok though thank god, just landed on my hip pretty good.

Does anyone have a flywheel cover for a 80's KZ550 laying around, or know where to get one. Ebay or Z1 doesnt have any.:(

This bike is my winter project now, when spring comes around it will up and running.

Thanks,
Luke

Do you not mean the Stator cover? There is a ton of them on eBay. Is the ignition not on the right and the Alternator on the left like all the Kawies of that time?

I laid my 550 down in april, luckily I had case guards on mine, and my alternator cover was fine. Having the case guards protected everything except my handlebars and wind screen. You might want to get a set; cheap insurance ;)

Glad to hear you are OK, the bike can be fixed. Would you mind sharing what the cause was. Dirt in the corner, another bone head driver? It may help someone else at your expense(not trying to be funny) I know I have learned from other peoples mistakes. I know when I go down for what ever reason it seems to get burnt into the brain so I do not do it again.

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationNo eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationNo eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationGlad you're ok.

I'm pretty sure the 1-phase and 3-phase stators can use the same cover even though the artwork may be different. You'll want to confirm the cover-mounting-bolt to make sure the alignment pins are in the same spot. I'm pretty sure they are, and the two types of stators should be interchangeable.

This one has snapped bolt in it. Wouldn't recommend it, but...

This is more promising. This is 3-phase. Only the 1980 modles were 1-phase.

Here's a 1-phase. You can tell by the 12-spoke stator. (3-phase has 18 spokes.)

There are several others. I only searched "kz550 stator". I didn't try it with a space before 550, and obviously there are other words to use like "cover" etc.

EDIT
Just noticed 9am53's links, he has a bunch in there.

ohhh, the stator cover, wow. Didnt know that was under there. Thats the part. Ill buy it. Thank you. Ill probibly need a new stator too. The cover is cracked and smashed.

I was riding home from school and i hit a corner a with some sandy gravel on it and the front end washed out. I'm ok for the most part just a little bummed.

The bike will be fixed.
I get my license today so i can drive my car now.

Ill take some pictures of the damage.
