cam cap bolts... was created by Randall the Vandal
have some stripped cam cap bolts and tapped them out to M8. the bolts are shouldered and are tight in the cap. since i cant use the knock pins but there is 0 play between the bold and cap. opinions if this will suffice on cap alignment.

If there truly is o.ooo inches play, personally, I would use all new cam bushings and break-in lube.

New, new, new... makes it all work wonderful

Good luck.

Randal, Unless you've wear in cam bearings, and indeed caps are tight to new bolts, I would simply place strands of plasti-gauge under cams at bearings, torque/remove & measure. any miss-alignment of caps will show as tight areas if diffence is gross. if within spec. run a couple of minutes and re-inspect bearings at caps. Cam bearings are pretty forgiving, I guess thats why there's only 1 size. Heads & towers were line bored at manufacture, thus caps aren't avail. seperate. however, I've seen many cracked caps swappped w/out incident. hope this helps. G
