Okay, I hope this is the place to ask this question. I have a 1978 KZ1000 engine I've been working on for my project, 1976 KZ900, the guy I bought the engine from said it was ready to go. Well it wasn't as I found out riding up and down my street. I took the engine apart and found that all the valve guides were loss and the seals were bad, but that's okay I can fix that. what I found next is the real problem the cylinder block is bad, it was bored wrong and can't be fixed.

So I need a new cylinder block or some suggestions. I would like to keep the engine stock 1.015L

Thanks

The machine shop I took it to said it was about 71mm, but it was bored at an angle.

thats awfully close to 72 which a 1075,which is limit for stock kz1000 sleeveves for safe overbore anyway.might be able to find another cylinder to use depending on how bad your pistons are,if theyre 1075 they might reusable in a new bore.the brothers dim craig/greg should be along anytime to set us all straight on how to handle it.

If you find a machine shop that has a boring machine that has a table that you clamp the cylinder to, and the boring bar runs perpendicular to the table, it is possible to square it up and resleeve it. Depends on how bad the angle is though. Someone try to bore it on a milling machine and didn't tram the head to the table first?

1976 KZ900A4, 4-1 header, rear lowering kit, grab bar removed, still shining and painting parts as time permits

Is it crooked front to back, or side to side? Frontg to back wouldn't really be a problem if it is not a lot.

It's side to side, but it might be okay if it's bored out to a 1075. I would prefer not to have to buy a big bore kit.
So if anyone knows where to get another cylinder block let me know.
