Those Rubber Vibration dampers Actually Work was created by bountyhunter
I recently ordered a new set of those little rubber plugs that go between the vertical fins at the top of the head above the spark plugs. I only had a couple left in my 750 twin. I popped out the last two and they were as hard as rocks.

I put four on each side because there are four gaps, even though the drawing only calls out three per side.

They actually do something. I had annoying harmonic vibration in the 3500 - 4000 range in high gear which seems to be gone. It now feels pretty much like when it was new. I assumed the gradual increase in vibration was wear in the engine or balancer, but maybe not. I guess those dampers just hardened over time and a couple fell out which made the felt vibration increase. So, good to know they are there for a reason.

Interesting. So if I put 10-20 in the fins of my 650 maybe my mirrors would be usefull at freeway speeds? :woohoo:

Yea, they are but mirrors are useless at 6000rpm on the freeway! ;)

If there's nothing on the inside of your handle bars, you can fill them completely with caulking or any other rubberized sealer.

It literally KILLS the vibration and mirrors become usable anywhere/anytime.

Cheers!
