Engine tach cable connection leaks. was created by polkat
Where the tach cable enters the front of my 750-4 engine, it is leaking. Before I take it apart, what is in there? A gasket, rubber O ring, or...? kawa parts are hard to get here, so could this be a silicon fix? Thanks!

Likely needs a tach oil seal.
Click here > Z1E tach oil seal
Would also replace the o-ring between tach drive and head.
Not supposed to leak, even with tach cable disconnected from the drive.
Some folks take pains to seal the knurled screw connection where tach cable attaches to the drive. Which doesn't remedy leakage around the tach drive shaft, but may contain the leakage within the cable sheath.
Good Luck!

I got a pack of assorted plumbing washers at a local hardware store and one of them fit and worked - that was 7 years ago.
The one from Z1E for which Patton supplied the link looks like the best bet.
