how to make my engine shine

hi everybody-my kz650 project is moving along nicely;my engine is in pretty good condition =but its pretty grey and dull-i see pictures in the gallery of some bikes with beautifly cleaned and polished engines[without chroming]can anybody give me some advice on what to use?i hear steel wooland a cleaning compound; but i forget the name of it thanks again mike...[moderator i hope i put my posting in the right place this time.if not sorry...in advance]

I use WENOL it is from Germany and is the best stuff I have used. It will make your cases look like chrome. There are other products out there but this is my favorite.

Are you talking about the engine or the covers? Or both? On the covers I'm using Mothers right now but will locate (little hard to find) some Simichrome as It works best for me.

I use Mothers, If the covers are real dull you can wet sand them starting with 1000 then 15-- then 2500 and mothers on a soft cloth.

Irish, I took some short cuts and came up with aluminum that shines like chrome(can see to comb my hair). I first use 2000(1000 if untreated or rough) wet n dry take it down as far as you want,2000 I used to finish wet, dry off, then I used Metal glo polish from SMKW,then after this step I use MAAS polish I'm pleased with the shine, repolish every month or two useing sham wow, or micro cloth regards Duke
