cam cap dowels?

HI, I read a few of the other post here but did not find my answer.

How may cam cap dowels are there. It seems I am missing a 6 dowels. There was 2 on most chris crossed and some had some had 3.

Question is do I need 4 dowels in each cap? If so I'm missing 6.

I found the answer to my question they are chris crossed 2 dowels per cap.

I have 2 bigger dowels that I don't know were they go. They don't fit in the caps to big. I can remember one was on each side but not were.

do you have the cylinder head and block right off the engine if you do there are two places the big dowels can be coming from at the end of the block there is a dowel hole centered on the end that one is used to locate the cylinder head and then there are two more that locate the block to the cases. and one more thing they are very important to have in the motor they center every thing.

Thanks timebomb33, the only place they fit is on the ends of block at the center. I do have cylinder head and block right off the engine. I wanted to change the rear cam guide it was the one wore bad, the front guide was good but rock hard.
Changed it as well.
