 Seems like the holes would tend to get plugged with carbon after running for a little while longer than 1/4 mile

Good Luck! :)

A 1/4 mile bike doesn't get as much carbon, as a street bike. But yes! They can get clogged over time.

Does the wear rate of the rings increase?

We usually only do dragbikes and have not seen any drastic wear.

It is interesting that the new German Wossner turbo pistons are coming from the factory with gas porting.

Interesting tid bit. Radial gas porting, which is harder to do, was originally done as a "cheating" method in stock cars where gas porting was not legal. With radial gas porting, you can not tell if the piston is in the cylinder.

Was your 10% gain, in the upper RPM range?

Yes. The gain was more pronounced at and above the peak HP point. I attribute at least some of this to the lower mass piston though. I agree with the general consensus here that gasporting helps more in the higher compression/boost applications.

As for clogging up the gasports...If you run them on alcohol you don't have that problem :)

1976 KZ900A4, 4-1 header, rear lowering kit, grab bar removed, still shining and painting parts as time permits
