tdc? was created by KZ1100 Bully
Hi, getting ready to put the top end back together. When I took it apart tdc was located on the f mark, that is were the 44th links were with the cam chain and the #1 cinder was at the top.

? is should it not be on the T mark not the F mark?

I set the dyna s before with the T make and it seems to run fine.
Not sure why it is running ok if it is tdc with the f mark.

So with my cam sprockets being tdc with the F mark. I should see an improvement when I set the tdc with the sprockets and the T mark.

The bike is set with the sprockets right but the F mark is wrong. That is the only way I could count 44 links.

Maybe that is why the Auto Cam-chain tensioner was fully extended.

The cam chain length is not affected by the timing of the cams/crank. If you have everything bolted up and the cam chain tensioner is reaching full extension, then your cam chain is shot, and you deffinately need a new one.

Manual cam chain tensioner should never be more than finger tight + 1/8th turn. Then check it periodically afterwards till the new chain stretches/settles at its new length.

Good luck!

PS. Oh yeah! , When you set your Dyna S timing, do it by revving the engine and holding it at 4krpms. Then set the mark to the F (full advance). This is how Dyna does it, and trust me it makes a big difference in performance.

Cheers!

"F" is full advance on the KZ1100 ?

On the 550's "F" is the fire mark which would be at idle. At full advance, there are two parallel lines to indicate the timing mark. "T" is still top dead center, though.
