one tooth off
19 Mar 2006 18:16
just went back and checked everything and found i was one tooth off on my exaust, which put me one tooth
of on intake. i got good readings on three of the four cylinders now but one is still low about 95 to 120,
rings looked good, so i think it must valve. Could incorrect shim size throw off compression? thinking of replacing valves on 1 cylinder? poured gas in port
and didnt leak down, kinda got me puzzled.
getting closer every day!

check valve clearances first, valves hanging open or not opening definately affect compression.goodluck, happy wrenching!

Did you run the bike one tooth off. I slightly bent 2 exhaust valves by doing the same thing. If you do not have enough clearance while cold, when motor heats up clearance could go to nothing and actually hold valve ever so slightly open.
