This 454 website seems to be fairly comprehensive.
Suave's 454Rider.com

Here's a link from that site to a 454 manual.
TheGreatWhiteKnight - workshop manual .
4-4 has the valve clearance specs.

I adjusted the valves on the bike. It just didn't want to run.

After checking things out and readjusting the bike would not turn over.

Backed the engine and it would stop. turn it the other way and it would stop.

Took the starter cover off and this is what i found. Roy

somebody got lucky. i've been seeing this kind of thing more and more lately i'm kind of wondering if its not something in the oil additives the oil company's are using that is making the epoxies weaken.

The cross-reference at Kawasaki.com shows that the 454s, 90-96 EN500 (Vulcan) & 87-93 EX500 have the same flywheel.

Also, the part number supercedes to 21050-1171, so other models' might work.

The cheapest flywheel I saw on ebbaayy was $50 + shipping

Thanks for the info. The only one i found that would work was from a gpz and it has a solid magnet.

I had this failure in my Mark II engine. I had a hard time finding a fly wheel. Lucked up on one for $9.99.

It does seem something is effecting the epoxy. Probably age. Roy
