Picked these up on Ebay for 76 dollars, can't believe you guys let them go. Sort of proves really, as in my previous posts about KZ1100's, that they are not very popular bikes in the USA and most of them get broken rather than restored.

Looks like in a few years time I will be the only guy with KZ1100's and the only one that likes them.

Downside is it is going to cost me 180 dollars to get them shipped to the UK. Anyway I prefer stock bikes and would much prefer to have these (if they are OK) rather than after market 4 into 1's.
I will let you know if I think I got a deal when they arrive here.

It will take an oversize box too because Ive never had any luck taking them apart. I tried to sell them once and ended up putting them back on my bike because of shipping cost in the US. Better hope you have a firm quote on shipping.

Hi mtkawboy
Yes I have paid the shipping with USPS. They have been split down and made into two packages, the inner heaaders and connector pipe have been disassembled but as you know the outer headers are permanently connected to the mufflers.
I have previously imported a complete system for a Z1 Classic and that was in one package with the outer headers still connected to the mufflers, I think that cost about 120 dollars for shipping.
It is still possible to buy a fairly authentic new system from a company in Belgium but we are talking 450 pounds sterling.
Fingers crossed that this is OK- looks pretty sound from the pictures but who knows. I will say that I have bought loads of used parts from the USA on Ebay and haven't been disappointed yet. One exception was when I bought some mufflers for a Triumph Thunderbird Sport (my passion & great bike with much technology bought & borrowed from Kawasaki) which never arrived in the UK- I suspect that they were never shipped!!

Received the exhaust system from the USA a couple of days ago, very pleased with it. A few marks here and there but it is going to clean up really well.
It wasn't completely dissembled for shipping but I have just done that. It will need new clamps but no big deal.

While I have it stripped down I am considering cleaning the inside of the headers to remove any carbon buid up. Any ideas what I should use without damaging the outer chrome.?

At work we clean out EGR passages with a spedo cable chucked up. Works well, just trim to length. Carbon is a lot harder though it might break loose a lot of it. ;)
