1015cc Piston Kit & Cylinder was created by spearsgaryhi
It's been a long time sence my last post. But I think that I've read nearly every thred on this sight over the past 7 monthes. I just cant remember all of them AND ITS A BITCH TRYING TO GO BACK AND FIND SOMETHING THAT YOU KNOW YOU READ SOMEWHERE 3 OR 4 MONTHS BACK. I'm well into my rebuild project now and tonight discovered that I'll need a new set of jugs. I have a stock KZ 900 engin. A few of the cooling fins are busted off. Just cosmetic and I could live with that. But I found that one of the spark plugs had been cross threded by some previos idiot. Not this one! And then did a very bad job fixing the mistake. The hole is 1/8" larger than the rest. Now am I correct in thinking that I can use the head that I have just taken off without major modification on a new 1015cc Piston Kit & Cylinder?. The valves look good ect. This is my first rebuild. I'm having tons of fun with the project. It's getting expensive. But well worth it. Aloha from the Big Island. PS. Can a machien shop fix the oversized spark plug probleM? Thogh for the price I think I'll just fork up thr cash for a big boor kit. Thanks:huh:

903cc bored to 1015cc kit will drop right in, no upper case boring required....

If your looking for a new cylinder go here... Gary turned out to be a good guy... Long story...

www.overstockpartsgalore.com/engine1007.html

You'll receive a 903 cylinder bored out to 70mm for a Wiseco 1015cc kit (all hardware & gaskets included) with no broken fins....

Caution, MRE ( )does the machining, cylinder head decking (BLOCK HAS BEEN DECKED JUST A MINIMUM (LESS THAN .010") and in my case, found they where off where I had to double the cylinder base gasket (from .020" to .040") to compensate. Others have had good success... Mod Tony I believe had no issues.

Might look into HeliCoil, TimeSert and KeenSert as possible spark plug hole repair options.

Where damaged spark plug hole threads may be salvagable, the reverse tap tool might be helpful. It re-taps starting from deep end of the hole where threads often remain sound to assure a good start for the re-tap.

Good Luck! :)

A good machine shop should be able to weld up the spark plug hole and retap it, you may even want to do a little port work on it while you have the head out getting fixed also
