Hello Guys! I have a 1980 Kz750e standard... four cylinder. Last month the sucker seized on me. I have gotten my hands on a cheap 750 twin from 1981 or so I think. I was wondering if the engine mounts will line up or if I am going to need to do some serious welding/ just look for another frame

I am. My four cylinder is in chicago right now with my brother. He wants to use it on a chopper he is building. I said hell, its seized- I broke the gaskets when I was messing with it... and I am offered a running twin for pretty much free. Only problem... it has no frame. So why don't I just fix the 4? convenience. (hopefully)

With enough time and money, anything can be done, but not conveniently.

A few things to consider:

First off I suspect the twin engine is too tall to fit in the four frame.

Even if you get it in and get the chain alignment issue sorted, you'll need a new exhaust that will likely interfere with the downtubes on the four frame.

Then you'll need a new set of carbs and a new airbox (that wont fit the four frame) unless you want to run individual filters.

You will also need a new ignition coil and probably a new reg/rec.

Then you will need to modify your wiring harness - the twin has points ignition, the four has electronic so the igniter has to be removed and the wiring altered to fit the points ignition.

All that work to lose what, 15 - 20 hp?
