Starter Clutch gear and washer was created by teramuto
Hi
I am trying to reassemble the starter clutch mechanism on a 78 KZ750. The PO had removed it along with the gears and chain. I managed to pick up all the components and am having problems with the assembly. My question is this. Is there a washer or space required between the large gear and the crank case (behind the gear). I know there is one required at the front of the gear (between the gear and the rotor) but when it is assembled this way the gear gets jammed against the case and won't move. If I put the washer behind the gear (between the gear and the case) the starter works fine.
All the parts manuals I have looked at don't show a washer there so I am at a loss. Any help would be appreciated.
thanks

Try this website:http://kz.mbsween.com/manual.html
It might be the same starting set up on your engine.
