Hi guys, I have a 76 900 and am freshening up the motor a bit. I want to install aftermarket cams. What would be a good size for a basically stock motor? I have access to some cams around .338 exhaust and .347 intake, what do you think?

yes will be keeping the carbs that came on the bike. Will these cams do anything for me or should i just leave it alone? they are cams a friend had around so i really dont have any paperwork on them.

im sure someone else will chime in, but i think stock cams are around .320....i could be wrong on that, but if they are, the ones you have wont make a hell of a lot of difference ....i think anything up to around 380 is a drop in....mine are 360 and even without porting, they arent bad....would be even better with porting....what are you planning on doing for feshening up?

That's a very mild set of cams. Similar to old 1x Andrews. I would suggest putting them on 106 centers if you do go with them.

by freshening up i mean the normal re-ring,new gaskets, and clean the head up a little, not porting just clean it up. The bike runs great now just smokes a little when you wanna run full rabbit. Dont really want big cams just a little bigger than stock. i think they are dale cams or something like that.

If you are going to tear it down it wouldn't hurt to install the cams. Just make sure they have the same amount of teeth on the sprockets. Roy
