clutch adjustment? was created by Davestradamus
After replacing my clutch cable a few months ago i have noticed a strange thing. when i start my 77 z650 on the center stand the rear wheel turns slowly in neutral. the bike drives and runs fine to me, but this seems odd. is that normal?

thanks,
david

I've had the same experience with a variety of bikes, and I believe it is perfectly normal. As the input shaft rotates, the cold engine oil creates enough resistance on the output shaft gears that the wheel will rotate a little when there is no resistance, like when it is off the ground.

Mine has done this since it was new. It's perfectly normal. You'll notice you can easily stop it with your hand with very little resistance, then it will slowly start turning again when you let go. Ed
