I am going to try putting the footpeg back about an inch to free up some space and using a dirtbike shifter...we'll see thanks guys

One thing for sure, in my case anyways, riding with steel toe boots... Nope, wouldn't be able to feel it engage that way thus insuring it was in gear....
These old transmissions are pretty tough, when it's placed in gear you can feel it.... They're not like the new bikes...
Like by buds ZFR Inteceptor... I asked him to start it up and twist the throttle to see what she sounded like... I had to repeat myself...
He replied it's running damn it... :blink: :S :S
I then asked where do the AAA batteries go for it.... :laugh:
When he puts into gear, it's like a dainty little gear catch.... Sure your not going to break that thing are ya.... Now came the finger from my bud.... :laugh:
That's ok, he didn't see the humor in it either.... :blush: :laugh:
