I have just tapped my budget for winter spending on my bike, I found a guy that is selling off his Kawi stuff, one of the things I am getting is this exhaust. I can't afford the dynojet kit and K&N's that I want till maybe next spring, if I put this exhaust on my 82 1000LTD will I risk running lean? can I just swap out my main jets for one size up to compensate for now, or will it be fine with stock jetting?

OK, I can't post the pic since I am at work, it's a 4-1 header with kerker muffler

I have run a header with stock jetting. Minimal difference. Might be wise to up the jet size though...can't hurt. Especially if it is a chrome header.

it's a black header. Would calling Z1E get me some jets?

Greg is correct...you can sometimes get by without re-jetting by leaving the stock air-intake system intact. You generally must re-jet if you change the stock air-intake...Z1E should have the jets in stock, but they don't exchange (unless they really like you :) ).

haha, I have bought from them a few times, and always get on well with the guy on the phone, but seeing as I can't remember his name I don't think I qualify for "preferred customer" perks!

Just remember ,
The mains only have an effect over 1/2 throttle .
You might also need to back out your pilot screws a bit to fatten up the bottom end.

THE FIRST RULE OF CARB TUNING ,,,,,,,,
The rest of the tuneup has to be PERFECT before you mess with them .

thanks for the offer, I live in canada though. I plan on putting pods in sometime soon so I don't think I need the K&N anyways. As far as the jhet go, I have no clue of they would work. tahnks again though

Come to think of it, I just started reading "Dan's carburettor theory and tuning" on the interweb and I think I am going to keep things as they are in the carbs till I get the pods, then I can let dynojet do all the work for me! I don't want to end up with a bike that won't run right cause I am getting ahead of myself.
