the hinge type would be better as it will allow full movement of oil back the other way toward the pump.

I wonder if that is a typical gate that was installed backwards, or if the two flaps of the gate are fixed together so that the whole thing is supposed to pivot around the hinge pin? Either way, it doesn't look like it would work on a regular basis. :huh:

The single bolt one kano posted has worked forever in old Z motors. I installed mine at least 20 years ago and I haven had any problems. It was just a cut down hinge I bought at a hardware store! lol

i bought this one off ebay a while back....cleaned it up and redid gate mount.....had about 2 lbs of silicone around it.....its going on in a week or three along with a pump that had 9k on it....i m kind of curious as to what i find when i drop the pan on 33k bottom end.....

Instead of putting the screw through the bottom of the pan and having to silicone around the screw and/or possibly having a leaker around the screw, I used a very small screw and bolted it into the boss around the filter hole. Cleaner look and don't have to worry about a leak. Just make sure the screw isn't too long.

1980 LTD (changed over the years), 1979 LTD (being rebuilt), 1977 KZ turbo and various KZ's in various states of build. KLX110
