Cam chain sprocket(s) replacement was created by etype728
Hi there,
I have the head off in prep for chain replacement and was examining all the idler sprockets. The top unit has massive play around the shaft. The front one is the same, with the rubber insert disintegrating. The rear one is just OK. The slipper roller is shot. The front and rear idlers + their axles and dampers are no brainers. Z1's parts list shows the slipper and the upper idler as available as seperate parts. There are some other parts available also. BUT, looking at the tensioner slipper and the top idler assemblies, these are swagged in place and not "user servicible" Must they be replaced as complete new assemblies or am I missing something here ? Also, are the solid billet sprockets offered OK ? I am splitting the case and putting the heavy duty chain in. Thanks. (75 Z1-B)

Regards, Jon

hi and welcome....if you are splitting cases get all new stuff.....other than the chain, the sprockets and idler pcs and the shafts they ride on will cost you about 350...if you go liska, even more......there are a few places to get what you need...just depends on how wide you want to split the leather.......everything for cam chain system is replaceable and available.....

if you are going to replace them i'd go for the liska billet ones the can be a bit noisier than stock because of the lack of rubber to dampen the sound but they are bullet proof some of the assemblies are repairable but i would still use allthe liska stuff and strangly enough they actually cheaper then stock kawi stuff
