Automatic Transmission for KZ?? was created by 79MKII
I've seen these items a lot lately and was wondering how they work? Do these actually shift on their own? Are they streetable?

By the way...how do I shorten these eBay links for posting??

Here's the new link after using "tiny url"

Yes they do. A friend has one in his drag bike. There for full throttle shifting. I don't know how they work but I think he can set it to shift at a certain RPM.

Wow, I've never heard of that, but it really works. The link to this post (in the new post notification email) was 95 characters. I used that website and here's the new one!

tinyurl.com/femlg

How do they do that? :huh:

I think I may be on to something here...I bet this is like when someone makes a link that says click "here", and when you click "here", it takes you there. Now to figure out how to do that... :S

To make shorten links type:

{url=PUT YOUR LONG LINK HERE}Type short name here{/url}

Now the brackets should be the square ones like these[] and not these {}.

That's what I was talking about! Like where your signature says "kz650..." and it is the link. I think that's probably what tiny url does for you.

Here goes a try:

No, these are not streetable. For this 1-2-3 tranny you can only let off the throttle in 4th and 5th. To let off in 1st, 2nd or 3rd bents the corresponding shift fork instantly. It is not a true automatic but actually an "overriding" transmission. Dragrace only

As above, these are for dragrace only. They DO NOT shift by themselves. Override means, say when in first gear and you shift, second gear slides over and engages to the point where the trans is actually in first and second. When the trans is spinning fast enough, it kicks first gear out(spin speed of gear)and now you are in second. Works this way through all gears that have been modified to be an auto shift. You can get them in 1-2, 1-2-3, 1-2-3-4 and full 5 speed auto. trans. This allows no interruption in power being transferred to the track so traction isn't upset by the on and off of power.The racer who can set rpm when trans. shifts is using an electronic device of some brand, that at a set rpm, it sends a signal to an electric switch that activates an air cylinder to shift gears. You can't let off throotle and get back on the power or as PROMOD above said, you get to buy another transmission!
