Cam chain adjustemnt?? was created by Born Dead 2
Hello all,

Did a search of this but to no avail. So my question is I'm working on my 84 Zn700, all stock, just did a valve check, carb sync and tune. Before the work bike ran ok but with some hesititation. After the sync it now runs amazing but now has a knocking sound that wasn't as present before the sync. It sounds like the cam chain slapping which I'm going to replace over the winter, but my question is the adjuster is automatic. Would setting the motor to tdc and loosening the bolt and retightening it do any harm? Just looking for a quick fix before winter.
Thanks in advance.

Not sure on your bike but the KZ650 that I just did a restore on has a manual cam chain adjuster. It is situated behind the cylinder jugs and is a simple adjustment. Again, not sure of your bike. I would see about getting your hands on a service manual specific to your year and model. Good Luck.
