O-RINGS on KZ1100 CAN U REPLACE EASY was created by kz1100warrior
Hi I have KZ1100 SHAFT. My O-RINGS need to be replaced. Can one do this without taking the cam or the head off. Just undo head bolts and gently lift off the head till about 1cm and replace or would one have to take of head and cam. I just done the head and rings but didnt do the O-rings and now have a leak from them at High rev's oil is splattering and can only be coming from there. No other leaks what so ever. If somebody knows a quick fix as well please let me know.

If we are on the same track, then you are referring to the four o-rings on the corners of the cylinders (on the cylinder studs)? If so, and if you think about it, the cam chain is tight against the cams...so if you loosen up the head nuts, the head still won't budge until the cams are removed...there is no easy fix to your problem. Pull the head and cams.

well i know on the kz 900 that you can remove the cam chain top center roller and the tensioner and pick the head enough to replace the head gasket. lift one side at a time. its tight though. i'm sure you can replace the center oring that way. you might have to replace the head gaskets though. if the 1100 is similer in design it should be ok.

only trouble is if you are replaceing the head gaskets again then you wont be able to get any residue off the block or head.
