Royal Purple oil?

Just wondering if anyone has used Royal Purple oil in thier bike. I have an 82 KZ750 that I am currently running Castrol (motorcycle specific) in, but am thinking of switching to the Royal Purple. I have had friends with other brand bikes that say they have had clutch slipping issues after switching. So I thought that I would see if anyone here has used this oil and if they have had any issues.

Search for Royal Purple posts by RichLockyer at the KawasakiMotorcycle.org site. He seems to be fairly knowledgeable & has done a lot of testing on various oils - he would probably give a big thumbs down on the RP in a motorcycle.

I dont know about running it in bikes, I have had it in my diesel truck for a little over a year, and come to find out it is NOT a full synthetic product,, grrrr.
needless to say, next oil change will be to mobil 1

Royal Purple is trash. Don't use it. Take a look at the Amsoil analysis of 15 different oils (see link). Royal Purple failed the viscosity shear test (page 9), wear test (page 13), and volatility test (page 17). Notice on page 23 Royal Purple came in 14th of the 15 oils tested.

I have heard mostly bad about RP. The best syn oil based on posted info is Amsoil.

Thanks for all the info. I will have to look into the info you guys gave me and find out what to use. Sounds like everybody likes the AMSOIL though.

Supposedly, Amsoil gets their base stock from Mobile, then add their additives.
