Couldn't you have the pipes bead blasted and then powder coated? probably be cheaper than a new set of pipes.i know that mac makes a 4-2 setup, but by looking at the pics i have found they tend to have an upswept pipe(which will not work with the police bike because of the hard bags). has anyone put these on a police bike? if anyone else knows of a different brand of 4-2 exhaust i would like to know.

those are both nice systems, but i want to try to maintain the original style like the stock type.
most of these systems have upswept muffler cans which i cant use because of my hard bags.
plus bead blasting would be good, but i would want them rechromed, not powder coated. i dont know of anyone around here who still does chrome work.

check online, I'm sure there are places that plate old stuff. If you have rust pitting, rechrome may not be feasible.plus bead blasting would be good, but i would want them rechromed, not powder coated. i dont know of anyone around here who still does chrome work.

One of the local shops mentioned that to me along with some curse words....:laugh:As far as I know, companies will not replate exhaust systems because all the crud inside the pipes will contaminate the chemical tanks.

A really good used stock exhaust system usually costs more than a new aftermarket set. As you noticed..... most used ones look like yours (rusted and beat up).ive checked ebay, but all the exhausts ive seen have been in just about as bad of shape, i will keep my eyes open for one, but a good used set would be acceptable.
