did you use oversized pistons or just ball hone the cylinders and install new rings?
you did use new rings right?
i would do a leakdown test @ tdc then @ bdc.
i'm suspecting cylinder wall taper here.
someday i will be able to afford my kz habit.

When my mechanic had put in the new rings (so called Mechanic will never use again) the expander ring was broken by the clip where the the two ends meet.so the ring was sliding by each other instead of closing together. The only reason I had found this out because of the oil and smoke. I then myself refitted new rings on 2 piston and working perfectly. The only way to check is redo i am afraid.
Good luck
