It is about 76 kz900 I got about 7 weeks ago.

Trying to take clutch hub off from housing without kaw's clutch hub holder special tool. Tried to remove 30mm nut with 1/2 socket with pipe while holding hub with handle welded steel clutch plate, impact wrench etc but didn't come off. Supposes to be tighten with 87-108 ft-lbs but it got to be more than that.
The reason I need to remove hub is I found one of five spring plate bolt is broken when I opened to change clutch plates and cannot back it out. Looks like someone tried to back it out and left broken screw extractor in it. I got another hub to replace with.

Any one knows a trick?

Thank you in advance.

BOY do I I made my own. Flat 1/2 plywood about 8inches by 20 inches. near the end drilled 5 holes where bolts go through and a big hole in center for the socket. I will post a scary drawing below .

Blue line is where you bolt it to the bolt holes that the springs go. and the orange is where you use a socket extention and ratchet to remove nut. the board being long helps to hold the clutch housing from turning. I had to buy longer bolts to bolt the plywood to the five, In your case the four remaining holes. Was slick, But I had the engine out of the frame so I dont know if you have the room.

Dumb question but did you bend over the tab on the locking washer? An impact gun should spin that right off.

I am pretty sure just a flat washer under the nut.

Manual says,
"Take out a few clutch plates, hold the clutch hub from turning using a special tool, and remove the mounting nut."
Not mention about locking washer.

Sounds easy. I swear the nut has been tighten real tight like 200 ft lbs!

I got impaitiant on mine and broke off a finger of the basket. I tried a big crow bar between the fingers againts the center hub .ooops. Took it down and had it welded for $15.00 so no big deal a new cluch housing is spppencive.
