I got it in my shop shut it off and tried to start it again, it barley starts! but once it started it ran like shit.
I checked it for spark and im good there, but i need to do a comprression test. I think its a problem with the carbs. But it just suddenly appeared so i dont know what it could be.
ALSO: when i pulled it in my shop it smelt really rich like gas.
This is my only transportation to college and back and i need it! i dont know what to do
someone please help!

Sence gas started pouring out of the overflow tubes i figured the floats might have got stuck.
and sure egnough i drained them and found a little water too.
But After draining them and starting it it ran fine.
I am gonna use a fuel filter now so this dont happen again.
thank god it isnt an engine problem, which it seemed like.
I run 92 octane cause thats what it sayt to run in the service manual.
But thanks guys, this site kicks ass!
srry fir the misclassification of this post.

Please excuse my primitive/bad terminology in the following... I'm typing this again after I tabbed and hit backspace, killing all that I wrote before as I went back a page.
I figured out that it wasn't carb, so I figured I had one of two options - ignition or check the timing / pull the cover off
So I chose the easy way. I pulled the caps and wires (caps off the spark plug, wires out of the ignition modules and caps)
I noticed that the rubber in the wires was actually curling around the copper inside! I made sure that the wires were exposing their copper. Some of the wires I had to cut about an 1/8th of an inch off to make sure copper was shining.
I jammed the wires back in the ignition modules and caps and put the caps back on my plugs and VROOOOM, she started faster than ever! It suprised me, even.
Now this still didn't fix the problem completely, but what it did allow me to do was to run at highway speeds again without the bike crapping out. Now it's just when I run up to 9,000 rpm that she wants nothing to do with running on all cylinders.
So I think what I need for the long term is a complete Dyna coil kit for my bike to be reliable. I'm sure anybody on the forums could tell you how great it is, I however have no experience with it.
Anyway, if you could follow that, it might help. Good luck!

On my way home i was crusing down my road and i probibly got er up to 7 grand in 4th... when i pull in my driveway the fucking thing lost all its power and it sounds like its running on 1 cylinder!!!!!!!!
I got it in my shop shut it off and tried to start it again, it barley starts! but once it started it ran like shit.
I checked it for spark and im good there, but i need to do a comprression test. I think its a problem with the carbs. But it just suddenly appeared so i dont know what it could be.
When mine did that it was because a piece of crud hit a main jet.

I did the same thing with my 750 twin. Put new base gasket, head gasket and rings in. New exhaust. Cleaned everything up. Then one day there was no wind and the sun was shining so I took it up to within 10km of its top speed (not much on the 750  ) and lost a cylinder on the way home. I didn't have a garage at the time so the bike was put away for winter a month early. Pulled it out next spring, cleaned the carbs and it ran like a dream :pinch:I recently had the head and cylinders off and i replaced all the top end gaskets. And i tediously made sure everything was in spec.
Thanks
Luke
