'82 KZ1100 Spectre cylinder not firing....

Alright. I just got the bike and got it running. the #2 cylinder was not firing. spark was good, so I pulled the carbs off and cleaned all of them real well. Put them back on and #2 is firing now, but #3 isn't! Anybody know what this might be?

I tested the #2 plug and it was getting a pretty good spark. I didn't test #3 because it was working yesterday. I was thinking it had to be a fuel delivery problem, but I'm not sure what would have changed in 1 day. the carbs look clean.

How old are the ignition coils? Could be breaking down.
Where they are mounted under the tank is not the best place for cooling.

I'd replace the sparkplugs wires and caps as they fail after a few years. I believe 7mm sparkplug wires fit the coils and caps.

They're probably pretty old. I have no way of knowing. I'll try replacing the plugs and wires and see if that helps before I replace the coils. Thanks for your help.

Don't start spending a bunch of money on parts you may not need. You can check wires, caps and coils to see if they are still serviceable. Just follow the instructions in a shop manual. Besides, didn't you say you had good spark? Have you delved deeper into the carbs?

When u clean the carbs pay special attention to the long tube that feeds gas to all the carbs. I pulled all the float valves off shot carb cleaner thru the gas feed that your tank and petcock uses, and made sure it flowed thru all 4 openings. Then shoot more into each individual opening, then repeat with compressed air..
