Does anyone know if i can take the packing outof the baffle on my new vance & hines and run it without causing any damage to my valves or engine? I have a stock breather with a k&n filter and I jetted up to 117.5 on the mains also I adjusted the air screws to onr turn out. I took the fiberglass out of the pipe and I like the sound and believe it has more power this way.

if it runs good and you feel no ill effects....good to go...
if you hear a lot of popping on decell, some could be from a lean condition....you will get a little popping if running no baffle.....i would definitely keep an eye on the plugs for a while after doing what you are doing...they are a great indicator of whats going on inside...also make sure your valves are in spec as far as adjustment.....

You shouldn't have a problem, except I can't see why you would want to make a great sounding pipe loud and raspy. Besides, you'll probably lose some horsepower and torque without the packing. I know it feels like it has more power, but it's probably just the loud pipe making it seem so.

I put the packing back because the plugs looked too lean but it still sounds pretty good.

that pipe on the left is way too small and will hurt the high rpm power in a big way, ive used four pipes that size and it still chokes off the motor big time.
