Will not restart when hot

Ok so i put new spark pug wires on the bike and my voltage went up . But still when the bike runs for 2 min and i try to give it gas it bogs out and will not restart till it is cold.

When you say hot, normal temps or are you noticing more than normal heat build ups?

Battery voltage good?

Proper voltage @ coils?

Sounds to me like too rich on pilot.

Will it start if you close the choke fully and crack the throttle slightly?

Once hot, pull a plug. Reconnect it to the wire, and hold it against the head whilst cranking. Is the spark fat and blue and consistant? Or yellowish, dark and intermittant?

Ok I got a new battery and a battery tender. I'm going to install it in the after noon but I think my valves are going to be the problem. So I'm going to inspect them too. Also I just got a parts bike for $100.00:cheer:. It's a 1982 kz550 ltd so if any one needs parts just pm me.

I tried every thing it just will not restart when hot, and I will test the spark in the morning and let you know.

The backfiring on deceleration is very likely the air suction system. It is the big hose contraption above the motor. You can remove it and cap off the two big ports on the valve cover and cap off the vacuum ports to the manifolds and plug the hole in the airbox.

The hot restart issue can be several things, but first thing to check would bevalve clearance. You want to make sure the motor is right, then ignition, then mess with the carbs.

Ok thanks guys for all the help. The bike is going good now the fuel petcock needed to be rebuilt.
