Clutch engaged all the time was created by fandango
Hi!
As I stated in my intro I successfully get this 1980 KZ1000G running,it runs beautiful. It was a project, after fixing the necessary things,I was about to get a test run,I pulled the clutch, released it and nothing happens.I can feel a very slight drag, but it`s like nothing.I checked the cable and the mechanism those are good.I guess it`s time to check the clutch. Can it be that badly worn out?

Thanks

Mileage on bike? What type and grade of oil are you using? Shell Rotella 20W50 works well in these air cooled engines.

Does the clutch push rod look bent or has chain lube build up on it?

I don`t know the mileage. The push rod looks straight and clean.I suspect my clutchplates are very bad.But maybe something else can cause this?It just popped in my mind when I took off the cover and throw it in first gear and try to push the bike,it felt like really hold it.

If you are saying that you can not unlock the clutch, you might have "Cork" based clutch plates installed by the previous owner. If they sit for more than a few days they stick together like glue. Barnett clutches were notorious for sticking like that. I had the same problem in my 1978 Z1R when I put the Barnett clutch in it. You should replace it with a stock type material clutch. Something that is made out of standard brake pad material and not Cork.

Does this mean the clutch push rod adjustment has for sure been set correctly?
