Hey all,

I picked up another KZ couple of weeks ago. Went to do a comp test and leak down test. Pulled the plugs
Plug in cyl 3, the bottom of it is smashed in. Is the motor toast? is there any hail mary savior trick? the motor was supposed to be a 1075 (but you never know til you tear it down) The bike did start and seemed to run ok?

The standard sparkplug for the older larger 4's is a NGK B8ES gapped to between .028 to .032 If a longer than stock plug was used, it's possible it hit the piston.

Have you done a compression check? This will let you know if there is engine problems along with a leak down check.

Remove the plug...

Under ignition plate cover, rotate fwd (CW from right side of bike) the 17mm nut while viewing the piston rise for TDC... (flash light), piston dome show damage?

Rotate full 360 degrees of rotation a couple of times with the new spark plug inserted...

MANUALLY ROTATE SLOWLY!!!

If the plug is indeed hitting you'll feel it go bump...
