79-80 Police / LTD cases? was created by Jack
Recently ,I was told that 79-80 LTD's and police bikes do not have the MKll cases with thicker stiffening ribs or the good crank. 2 motors in question - one has a eng.# in the 080000 range and the other is 111XXX.

You might want to look at the thread called "why are there two kz1000 motors?" Further searches of the site will no doubt bring up a great deal more info on the subject.

There is continuing confusion for several factors...
1) Common dogma says that the '79 B model did not have the MKII cases, while the '80 B model does have MKII cases/crank.
2) Common dogma says the '79 and '80 'A' model both have MKII cases/crank.
3) If you check www.zedder.com , you'll note that the C, A, and B models all drew motors from the same engine series (which includes the two numbers of yours in question). This is troubling as there were two styles of motors produced (older pre-MKII and MKII motors) and they are both listed as from the same motor series...which begs the question 'how can two different motors fall within the same motor VINs?'
Where the Police bikes fall in this mess, I don't know other than they were still produced with the older style (pre-J) motors through 1981.
