Loctite 242 ? was created by Locozuna
After getting a late start on the aforementioned 900. My partner in crime and I have a question. We are installing the new oil pump and I think Loctite 242 is the one for the job. Since the docs do not specify which product to use I am asking the question to the brain trust here. Is this a job for 242? We will await the decree by downing another sudsy delicacy or two!

The pump screen was almost completely clogged. Now I got to figure out what to charge him for the new pump. I'm thinking a square trade for his Can-Am Spyder!

I'm going with the Blue 242.

The BLUE Loctite # 242 can be removed with tools, but the RED Loctite # 222 needs about 300 F to loosen it's grip.

Just a thought... Molson's Export is RED.

Labatt Blue is... well BLUE. :side:

I'd go with a two-four of Blue instead. B)

Oh, thread sealer... ya, the 242 Blue sounds like the way to go.

Best of success. :)

Got a soft spot for Molson Ice(brain). Seems to only take half as much to do the job and that means only half the output too. I hope the Kidneys appreciate it because I do.

He got me to defy gravity and take a recon. Looks like the last owner hacked the stator plug and decided to goo it up real good instead of fixing it right. New problem. But I have a new one of them too.
Might be getting a lil Ginger Brandy to thin the beer. If this keeps up call me Spyderman.

But it sure looked like the stuff blocking the pump screen was gasket or silicone. The pan bottom had what seemed like hard tar in the bottom and the s-channel between front and back was just a hard dam of tar.

Seat of pants, Locktite offers many grades of sealer/retainers most common in order of strength/temp are blue, red, green. Agree w/others, blue should be fine for oil pump application. G
