rusted baffles newbie question was created by happyhubby
the inner baffles are rusted out and makes a vibrating metalic sound and soundsd kind of crappy. harley exhaust baffles are a dime a dozen on craigslist and are really nice looking. i dont want anythinfg loud but hypotheticly could i cut off my baffles and weld on some from a harley?

I think you mean you want to cut off the whole muffler. The baffle is the part inside the muffler canister. Yes, it is possible to cut the pipe in front of the muffler and weld on a new one, or clamp it on if you have good pipe to work with.

I think you can find the MAC sets for maybe $275 for a whole 4-1 system, decent quality for street use. The problem with hanging aftermarket cans onto your head pipes is they are not designed to play together so you can't be sure how they will run or what jetting it will need.

I tried it way back when on my 750 and it ran awful so I bought a whole set later.
