big bore engine was created by COE1948
Hello everyone i am starting to collect the bits to build a 1400cc big bore engine with the rest of the good gear to go with it to install into a 1975 Z1b 900 frame . I am looking for advice on which Kawasaki engine is best suited to these modifications the bike will be used on the street but i would like to drag race it. Any suggestions will be appreciated

You might want to look at the thread called "Why are there two kz1000 motors?" Further searches of the site will no doubt bring up a great deal more info on the subject.B)

You can do it with any of them if you take the necessary steps to insure it will live.

Thanks for the replys the engine will mainly be used on the street but it will not be my daily rider .I have got a RC engineering turbo kit that i bought off this forum but it is being fitted to 1000cc engine.I do have a couple of 900 engines that i could use but i have read on here that 1000 cases are stronger and that a j head may be a better option it is my intention to buy a suitable bike in the US send it to a good engine shop get them to build the engine put it back in the bike tune it and then i will ship the bike to Australia take the engine out of the doner bike and fit it to a Z1B frame .This engine will have carburetors

The 79 & 80 KZ 1000 MKll & Shaft drive cases are the strongest Kawasaki offered - look for the much thicker webbing in these cases. The engine number will tell what year they are from as well.

Is this post for real?

Where are you located in Australia?

I have friends in Perth and Queensland. Someone I know must surely know a builder on your continent....

Yes this post is for real as the engine core will be coming to Australia from the US and all of the parts will be coming from to US it is a viable option to get the engine built in the US you guys have got it all there sitting on a shelf we have to wait for all of the little bits to be shipped here there are quite a few people over here that get all sorts of engines built in the US mainly for drag cars
I am located in Melbourne Australia

Yeah, I can see that.

I have friends in Ballarat that are in to old Hot Rods. The cost of anything from the States is outrageous with the combination of taxes and shipping.

Let me guess; by using a donor bike, you can pay import duties on the price of the bike alone, and not on the price of all of the parts installed and the labor? When you combine all of the shipping and all of the taxes on all of the parts, I would guess that the savings would be substantial.

Can you get away with importing the donor bike as "farm equipment" (ha, ha)?

Good Luck,
Tony
