Cam chain noise? was created by The Garbone
OK, so had my 79' KZ650 out for its first extended 50mph+ run today after putting on my new pipe. (It had none before)
Should the cam chain sound like an old bike turned upside down and someone is cranking it nice and steady? My other bike has push rods so I am not used to the cam chain sound.
My bikes previous owner told me he had replaced the tensioner and chain recently so I am curious if this is just a trait of older KZs..

The rice burners with cam chains all have a "zingy" sound to my ear, you can even hear it as they cruise by you. It shouldn't be too loud, just a metallic zing kind of sound.
