I'm going to change the oil pan gasket on my 1980 650, and I have a feeling it's never been changed before. I can't get the pan to come off for the life of me. Any tips?

Welcome fellow F1 owner! Oil pan is stuck on tight, double check that ALL bolt are out as timebomb33 suggested. You can smack it a couple times with a mallet and if that does not work you'll have to take a thin chisel (gasket scraper works good) and carefully start it with a hammer between the motor and pan, once you get it in it should separate the parts. ;)

Chances are it was never changed before. The oil pan gaskets on some, if not all, kz's were sealed with some kind of gasket cement/glue at the factory. Most times the pan will come off but the old gasket is stuck to the engine.

Pocket knife blade tapped into the gap gently at the corners.

Getting a knife around the edges didn't work.

I took all 15 bolts out, is there anything I'm missing? There is absolutely no movement in the pan, it feels like it's still bolted on. Are there any good products that I can buy that I can spray on and let it penetrate the adhesive so I can get this thing off?

do you have a deadblow hammer or a copper/brass hammer if so give it sideways if not use a piece of wood and smack it with a regular hammer it should shock it loose

one other thing don't jam anything in between the gasket surfaces as it will cause major leaks in the future.

This is what I ended up doing and it finally popped off.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Make sure to remove the old gasket with a non metalic scraper. I use a piece of either lexan or plexiglass sharpened with a file. You do not want to gouge or damage the surfaces as they will leak.
