Replacing Exhaust pipes/muffler 76 KZ 750

The exhaust pipes on my 76 B1 are rusted through and the heat tape/putty/screw clamped soup can patches aren't holding anymore. It rusted through in both directions from the joint where the mufflers join the pipes right under my feet. Chunks of metal are loose inside the mufflers and rattle around and there isn't anything clean or solid on the pipes for a new muffler to clamp on to. If I don't use soup cans or something to join them together they'd just fall off the bike, there's literally nothing left of either side to hold them together anymore. But the pressure is blowing them out at the joint. Plus the pipes are icky looking anyway.

I think this, among other things, is affecting the engine performance and am looking around for new pipes. I read some people get Mac headers and if that's where to find a reliable new system is this the one I need? Any other advise would be appreciated. I don't want to spend $300 if I can help it but I want a good solid replacement and will come up with it if it is.

Ashbane,
For MAC pipes, try www.denniskirk.com . They have the all chrome sets (with shipping) for less.
P/N 442047 is a black headpipe/chrome tailpipe that is less expensive.
Carb jetting will probably be required with either of the MAC pipes.
E-Bay 370142155037 is a stock set from a 82 and should fit.

I have been looking for a set of head pipes to modify for this

(carbs, coil and pipes from my 79 for a test fire)
Drop me a PM if you change your exhaust and want to get rid of your original head pipes.

Best of luck
