I am having problems removing the Tach Gear from my head. I has come part way but will go no farther.
Is there a trick?

It was a tight fit on my 1000 too for some reason. The way I removed it was with a vice grip and patiently worked it out. Place a piece of material over it to keep the teeth on the vice grip from chewing it up. Once out you can sand down the tach gear with light sand paper so that its much easier to put back in but with some resistence when its almost in completly. Worked well for me, easy to do. Another member was able to pickout the seal and pop a new one back in actually without removing anything.
