How long, at a given throttle position, do you have to hold it there to get a proper plug reading?

Do a search for "plug chop" also look through the filebase. There have been numerous threads on this topic. That should get you going in the right direction. B)

WOT for 1/4 mile should be sufficient. Cut the kill switch and pull in the clutch.
Start with fresh plugs and ensure the engine is up to temperature.

This method of plug reading should also work for mixture readings at part throttle but heat range should be tested at WOT.
